EDSOCRATIVE
EDSocrative
This post is about a website I tested called EDSocrative. I chose this as one of 3 to look at for the 7 Events framework activity sheet. I created my own account and class, to be able to fully interact and explore the website. Logging into the Educator account the home page has tabs across the top; Launch, Library, Discover, Rooms, Reports and Results.
The launch tab is considerably the "home page" giving you 6 options. Quiz where you can launch a quiz that you have saved to your account. When selecting launch, and the quiz, it gives you more options in which how you want questions to be shuffled, attempts, how you want the quiz to be paced or monitored, etc. Space Race, is essentially the same as quiz only now it has the emphasis of speed and time. Allowing you to create teams, adjust the timing etc. Exit Ticket, has a totally different layout than those two, but essentially allows you to assign something for the whole class to complete. With this website and page you can monitor who has finished and thus has "earned" their "exit". Below are the last 3 of the 6. These are with the title of "Quick Question". The 3 options being multiple choice, true or false, and short answer. It is one question, and students are invited in to answer.
The library tab is where you can organize and access your saved quizzes/tests. This page allows you to duplicate, edit, and share them. And is pretty easy to follow steps for.
The discover tab allows you access the already available lessons on the website similar to Edpuzzle. You can find test based on 5 subjects, Math, ELA, Science, Social Studies, and World Languages. When clicking on a subject you can filter them through, Common Core Standards, number of questions, keywords, grade levels, and more. You can view them or copy them to your library instantly. You can even go as far assigning specific questions, rather than doing a full test.
The rooms tab is where you manage your classes, and the students within them. Then we have reports, and results. Reports focuses on the outcomes of the tests, and quizzes. Whereas results seems to focus on only quick questions.
The design of the website is very simple, not very busy. This is great for accessibility, and organizing of content.

Hi Caitlyn!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your blog post, this is a technology I have never heard of, so it was fun to learn about! I liked how simply the website is laid out, it seems like a great online classroom tools with it's different functions, especially for an early grade since they don't need as many bells and whistles. I also thought it was cool that you can filter questions through CC Standards, that's a great feature! Nice job!
