SAFESHARE
SAFESHARE
For this post I'm going to share a website called SafeShare. Safeshare is another website I tested out for the 7 events worksheet. It's a simple and easy to use software. Heres a quick and simple explanation to match.
Safeshare is as self explanatory as the name. It allows you to share videos with your students easily with minimal security concerns. With safe share, you can create playlists for your videos, or groupings for your videos to be assigned to. When adding videos to your safeshare account you just simply copy and paste the url of the video. You then are given some prompts to fill out, or are simply filled out for you from the link you inserted. For example I did a youtube video of a read aloud, so the title was filled out and the description from the youtube creators page was copied and pasted as well. Of course as an educator you can change the titles and descriptions to match your classroom management or purpose of the lesson, etc.
By working with youtube videos, there can be many links or buttons within them. You have an option to hide those so students are able to stay on track. You even have the option to edit the start times and end times if you have only a specific section you want your students to see.
The simplicity, and purpose of this website is definitely a tool to be used in the classroom. I can already think how helpful this would be within my placement classroom, or even just as a parent. Kids wouldn't be watching something kid friendly that would later load into something like five nights at Freddy's. This is a necessity when showing videos to kids safely.

Hi Caitlyn!
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of safe share, but it sounds like such a useful tool. Something that can help us as a teacher to keep their student's safety online. I like that you can edit the videos start and end times on videos that are not your own. It will help when you find something beneficial in a video, but you do not need the whole video. Well done! Thank you for introducing me to new technologies!
Hi there Caitlyn- I enjoyed reading your entry. I had not heard of this technology before, but it seems useful and effective. Which event did you put this technology in for the Seven-Event framework? Just wondering!
